It’s been a while since I sat and put fingers-to-keyboard. Nope, don’t like that pen-to-paper sounds so much better. I’ve been wanting to sit and blog for a while but I didn’t realise how long it had been since I last sat and added anything here. There have been quite a few life developments since then, but I’m hoping I will be able to go into all that at a later date. For now, I want to put a few ideas down for how I’m going to finish off my 2024.
Quarter Four Goals
First of all, how are we so close to going into quarter four of 2024 already? I don’t think I’m ready for what that means, and I can’t quite wrap my head around it. Yes, I’m including September in this list as I don’t see how I can create goals for quarter three when we’ve only got a third of it left. Maybe I should have this as Third Three goals instead? 😅
I don’t want to give myself too much for the last 4 months of the year, but I want to challenge myself a little more. Especially now I’m slowly getting into a better routine. Here are my five goals I’m aiming to achieve before the end of the year rolls around.
1) Finish a Series
I have started so many book series, and I think I need to get around to completing one of them. I don’t know which one I will be trying this with, but I think this might be one of the more easily achievable goals. It will also help bring that ever-growing TBR down by at least one.
2) Complete Edits for Current Novel
I have had some notes back on my book for over a year now, and I would really like to get them noted and changes made. Originally, I wanted to have a fully finished version of this book last year, but pregnancy really stole all of my energy. I am struggling with this a little now that I have a baby to look after as well. But I am not put off! It may take a little longer than I wanted, but I think that I will be able to get these notes finalised and maybe even make some substantial changes. Fingers crossed the nap schedule stays as consistent as it is.
3) Create an Author Planner
Now, this isn’t as fancy as I think some people might be thinking. I love using diaries and planners, but I struggle to find one that does what I want it to. So, I’m currently looking at ways to create my own yearly planner. I am thinking of trialling something for a couple of months and if I can get the hang of it and use it consistently I want to up this for the full year. There aren’t any plans yet for this to be something to sell, but who knows what could happen in the future. A printer for the planner is something I am more occupied with at the moment.
4) Exercise More Often
After moving house last year, and then very quickly becoming pregnant, I haven’t been able to exercise as much as possible. I had to completely cut out running in September last year, and after a knee injury in the middle of November, I had to scale back all other types of exercise as well. The only thing I was able to keep up with was walking but that’s not the best option over the winter months. Since giving birth I have managed a few walks but I really want to get back into exercise and up my stamina. I am not looking forward to running around after a toddler if I don’t do something in the next few months. It’s not like I’m going to go out and start running 10km tracks, but something to give me a boost is all I’m looking for.
5) Make Memories with Violet
I’m lucky to have so much time off for maternity, but I know that it’s going to go by so quickly. I really want to make as many memories as I can over the next few months. It might seem a little silly as she’s not even a year old yet, and won’t have a full understanding of what we’re doing but I will. She’s still so little and I love every day with her. But she won’t always be this little and smiley when she sees me. I want to hoard them for when she doesn’t need me as much anymore.
I don’t think I’ve chosen anything that’s difficult to achieve. The most time-consuming is definitely going to be my novel edits. Never mind that I’m trying to draft another book in the background. I swear I will be able to finish something else in the not-too-distant future.
I’m excited to get back into blogging, and I hope this is the first in some more regular posts from me. I might tidy up my blog when I get the chance, and make some other changes, but it’s not a top priority.
Hasta la fuego
