Back in February I went to London with my sister to see Hamilton ( I swear I will get round to writing my review one day!) But we struggled to find any places to eat there. I mean there was the standard: McDonald’s; Burger King; Pizza Express. But we wanted to find somewhere better, somewhere that we couldn’t go to at home. Unfortunately, at the time we couldn’t find anything that would help us find somewhere to eat. And we ended up eating far too many chips from McDonald’s!
Enter Squaremeal*. Although the company has been around for almost 30 years, I’d never come across it before. I guess anything can be hidden from view if you’ve not had a need for it before? But since hearing of this website I think I may have created my dream London restaurant experience! At least, I know the places that I really want to eat at the next time that I am down that way. I’ve seen a couple of great places to eat on their website but the one that has stood out is the Boulevard Brasserie. I’ve not had the chance to visit a brasserie in years, and the fact that I would be able to in London is something that makes me excited. I’d be more excited if there was one in Sheffield, but I’ll take it!
For any of you that don’t know, brasseries are very popular in France and are normally linked to particular breweries. To be honest, the main thing that I buy from them are croque monsieurs and wine. But sometimes having the option to do that, and for it to be somewhat authentic is all I need. Plus, who doesn’t enjoy a cheese toastie? A simplified way of describing it, but it is why I love them so much. Melted cheese and bread make the best types of meals, and the French know how to mix them well.
I have to admit that I am a bit of a fussy eater and that’s one of the reasons that I struggle to find somewhere to eat. It does make fine dining a little bit of a chore for anyone who is with me. This is why finding a simple way for me to be able to vet a restaurant beforehand is good. So far in my life, I’ve never had the issue of not wanting to order any food in a location but now I won’t have to worry at all. And I can make sure that my friends and family won’t have to worry about me either. Although, I can always head off to Nando’s if I really can’t find anything!
How do you find the best places to eat? Do you have any little tricks and tips to find the best restaurants?
Hasta la fuego
