2019 Travel Plans and Thoughts

After the past couple of years travelling around and exploring Europe, me and Todd have decided to take a different turn for 2019. In the sense that our 2019 travel plans don’t actually include any travelling. We’re both wanting to save up to buy a house. I think this is more me than him at times. Unfortunately that’s not something we can afford to do if we are travelling everywhere all the time.

This doesn’t mean that Todd and I haven’t been looking at places to visit. So far we have our sights set on Canada, America, Tokyo, Russia, and more typical destinations abroad. But the amount we would need to enjoy each of this places would put a massive dent in our savings goals. At least these travel plans would massively set me back from where I want to be with my savings. This is one reason why I’m trying to get self-published this year. It might not generate a lot of money, but every little helps. Sneaky peak to see how that’s going so far!

Does This Mean I Have Zero Plans for 2019?

No, I’m hoping that it means the opposite. I’m going to have to find more inventive and closer-to-home topics to keep up the travel writing ways! I am thinking of doing a few trips to the Peak District, and what better place is there for taking photos than there? We tend to go for walks there during the summer as it is, but I’ve never really spoken about what is around there to do.

The main place that has been on our radar for the UK, however, is a trip to Scotland. More specifically Edinburgh. I have never been to Scotland and it is somewhere I’ve always wanted to go to. From the photos I’ve seen, some of it reminds me of home. Woodlands and countryside. I feel like I’ve found a theme for my 2019 travel plans, walking through the woodlands. Catchy.

Another reason why I don’t want to book any trips abroad this year, is due to the uncertainty that a no deal Brexit option is currently throwing at us. I know, I know, people are fed up of hearing and talking about the dreaded “B” but it’s an important political event, and if we have no deal then we potentially have no insurance or travel industry that can operate. Even the government is now saying this with Spotify ads that have been played recently! It makes me wary, and until I know what’s happening I don’t want to spend money I might not get back.

Will I Be Keeping Updates of My 2019 Travel Plans?

The short answer is hopefully. I’ll hold my hands up here and admit that I am awful at keeping up to date with any of my travelling. I tend to spend too much time enjoying the moment rather than trying to document it. I feel that’s the best way to be. Enjoying the moment as it comes. But I am wanting to keep a better document of everything in general this year. In the future, I want to be able to look back on my youth fondly and see the pictures and about my thoughts of it back then.

I love hearing where other people are wanting to go to, or where they’ve already been. Katy at The Lilac Scrapbook, is someone who always gives me such travel envy! Her twitter threads on her trips away or something I have aspired to but can never replicate. Molly’s Travel Bucket List: Asia Edition has made me want to seriously jump on a plan visit an area of the world I’ve never been to before! I may have put some of these on my own list.
