August Objectives 2020

July did not go as well as I would have hoped when I wrote up my July Goals post. I did manage to run 3 times a week, but I didn’t manage to hit any of my other 4 goals. I came nowhere close to posting weekly to my blog and I think that’s from a number of different factors. One being, I don’t have as much time to do everything now that I’m back at work and another being that I have been helping my auntie look after her plethora of animals for the past 4 weeks. Something which I think will be continuing for a while. However, I’m keeping my fingers crossed that my August objectives will be easier to complete.

Despite my success rate being quite low, it’s not stopped me from putting together a list of objectives for August. I’m hoping by calling them objectives, I will be more likely to get them done. Semantics can be really important.

My August Objectives

1) Hit 20 views on at least one YouTube video.

I have been putting a lot more effort into my youtube videos, and I think I’ve finally figured out how to stop my videos from auto-focusing. I think one of reasons has definitely been that I’m sat two close. But I think I was also using the wrong setting. It’s only a moderate goal, and I would love to surpass this but I think I need to get a proper scheduling process in place before I’m able to get higher views. The past couple of weeks I have not done as well as I was doing, and I think that one of the reasons is that I’m not letting anyone know the video is up. So I’m adding promotion into my regular to do lists.

2) Post Weekly to my Blog.

I have a plan for this month, and I am scheduling some content in advance. July was a write off. There is no other way to describe it. I have made a list of the posts I want to load and made some notes on what to include. Now that I have  decided to focus my youtube on books and writing, I think it will free up more ideas for the blog. Let’s hope that the next few weeks prove to be more successful than July!

3) Declutter my belongings.

I don’t think I have a lot of stuff. Unless you count dresses, in which case I need help! I’ve been trying to trim down what I own for a couple of years. Mainly to get rid of things that no one needs. I only binned my Year 9 math books last year… I own a lot of stuff. A lot of random stuff. But I have slight hoarder tendencies. I don’t know if I’ll need something that I’m throwing out. It’s difficult for me to actually get rid of things, but over the past couple of months I have been doing this slowly. Now I want to go through my piles of paperwork and see what actually needs keeping, and what can be shredded. Hopefully, when I’m able to move house it will be with a lot less things (including my clothes!!) that will be coming with me.

4) Read at least 4 books.

I wanted to read 50 books this year. I think I’m at almost 20, so not too bad! However, I’m not sure if I will reach my target. 4 books this month will get me in the right direction, but I am hoping to add a couple more in if possible. I have so many to read on both my shelves and my kindle so I know that I won’t be without something to read for a while. But it doesn’t seem to be helping me in terms of getting the numbers down. I am trying to resist the urge to buy new books but it’s not always possible!

Yep, I’m only sticking to 4 again. Well publically, I have a huge list written in my diary for August but some things are a little more personal. I’m feeling confident that I’ll be more successful with these this month. I just need to be able to stick to my plans and allocate my time properly.

What are you hoping to tackle in August? Is there anything that you’ve been putting off and are now looking at completing?

Hasta la fuego
