First Update NaNoWriMo 2019

I was hoping to get these updates out a little more frequently, but it seems that’s not happened. But I am updating! So there is that at least. I’ve got my first update for my NaNoWriMo project and it’s not great news. I should be on around 13,000 words by now, but I think I’m only pushing around 6k. A bit of a drop…

I’m starting to realise that I need to really focus and prioritise my time if I want to write full time. I think I’ve known for a while that I don’t have the dedication to be a full-time writer, and it’s one of the reasons why I stopped doing NaNo. Even though it’s not something I’m good prioritising, it is something that I still love. With that in mind, I am going to be forcing myself to catch up with the word count this weekend. Even if this means not sleeping properly!

Another thing I’ve realised is that I am on holiday next week… Without my laptop. This is going to be a bit of a nightmare. The only way that I think I will be able to keep up with the word count is by taking a notebook or two with me to write in. The downside to this is that I’m going to have to type it all up when I get home. Aren’t I glad I booked another couple of days off work?

I was hoping that my first update would be a little more jubilant, with some success and a higher word count. But beggars can’t be choosers. I am optimistic that I will hit the 50,000-word count by the end of November. I think I just need to schedule my time a little better and make sure that I can definitely hit the daily goal. Especially if I can catch up this weekend!

In the bottom left corner is the NaNoWriMo logo and in the top right corner is a lavender coloured bow with the title of the post in it. This box also contains a quill in the top left corner, curled over the title name, and in the bottom right corner an image of a notebook with a pen.

I hope that you are all having a lot better luck than me with getting these word counts in place. And if you are struggling, remember that there will be other people in the same situation as you!

Hasta la fuego
