How are we in September already? It seems like only two minutes since I was sitting down to write my August Objectives! I managed a 50% success rate for my objectives from last month, but I am ecstatic with that! I had a bit of a slump in August with a lack of energy that meant I couldn’t push myself how I wanted. However, I’m hoping that my September objectives will be a little easier to complete (and I’m already making progress on them!)
So What Did I Succeed at in August?
I managed to hit 20 views on a video! I’m actually at 27 views at the time of writing this (and if you fancy boosting that up, even more, the link is here 😉 ) It might only be a small goal but it’s one I’m really proud of hitting. I think my YouTube channel has been going from strength-to-strength and I can’t wait for a video to hit 100 views! (I’m ignoring videos created around 8 years ago!)
The second thing I managed to do was to declutter! I’m as shocked as you are, believe me. I didn’t do a lot, but I did some. I went through some of my paperwork boxes and threw away my GCSE work. I’ve kept all files that link to French or Spanish, I mean I may still need that at some point. But everything else has gone. Now I need to read through my books and see which ones are an affront to my eyes and imagination so they can go as well.
Now, the moment we’ve all been waiting for!
My September Objectives!
1) Read 4 books
Last month I had a major slump, I felt like I had run completely out of energy. That mean I only managed to get through 2 and half books. Maybe not even quite the half. This month I am determined to read 4 books. I am half tempted to find some small books to get through, but I also think I need some time to sit and read.
I’ve been trying to do so much I’ve not had the time to sit and read through the books I’ve been buying. I have so many old books on my TBR I want to get through, but I feel a little overwhelmed. Maybe I should start from A and work my way through the end? If I could hit more than 4 books I would be over the moon, but I’m going to try and keep it realistic.
2) Run twice a week
This goal has always been three times a week in the past, and for a good 8 weeks I was hitting that target. However, with the aforementioned lack of energy I was only managing once a week in August. I’m trying to fix that so for my September objective, I’m aiming for two times a week. It’s enough to get me back into the swing of things but not so daunting that I put it off altogether.
3) Start Planning Next Story To Write
I feel like this is a little self-explanatory. There are a handful of ideas dotted around in notebooks in my house, or saved as partial drafts on my PC. I’m slowly figuring out how to self-edit but while I delve into that I can feel ideas bubbling away under the surface. I don’t know if it’s the best course of action but I would like to start getting those ideas down a plan. It might not be a good plan. It might not make a lot of sense. However, I want to have something ready for me to really delve into. Maybe the anticipation will help kick me into finishing these edits.
4) Blog every week!
This is going to be a recurring objective. I feel like I have really good spurts of blogging. Then there’s an almost eerie silence from this place on the internet. During the lockdown, and my furlough period, I had so much more time to do what I wanted. Now I’m scrambling around to fit in the things I want to do around my job. I mean, gotta earn that money right? I’m trying to stick to a better schedule this month and I’m keeping my fingers crossed that I can keep my motivation running.
I kind of like sticking to 4 objectives a month and I feel like these ones will help focus me on the things that matter and are important at the moment. It could change next month, but for the time being, I’m going to be doing what I can to get where I want. I’m hoping that my September objectives are a little easier to stick to than my August, or July objectives.
Let me know what you’re planning to achieve through this month, and how we can motivate each other to move on.
Hasta la fuego
