I can’t believe it’s that time of year already! 2018 has gone far too quickly for my liking, I’m feeling more like an adult. And I also feel like I should have myself together a little more. But I am thankful for everything that I’ve achieved so far. However, it’s not a new year without some resolutions. So here are my new year resolutions 2019 edition.
1) Double my blog views
2018 was a good year for my blog, I had an increase of nearly double the views from 2017. I’m still not one of the highest reaching bloggers but I feel that I am slowly getting to the place that I need to be. That’s why I’m hoping to build on my success and double it again. This leads me very nicely onto my next one!
2) Increase my time management and productivity
Every year I say that I am going to plan my time better, and every year I fail. I don’t like setting myself up for constant failure so I’m going to take a pro-active approach to it this year. I’ve picked myself up a dairy with some goal setting areas, as well as a monthly overview to plan. I buy a dairy every year, but this year I am determined to carry it with me every day and make sure that I’m not missing anything.
I think this might be most difficult resolution for the year but if anything that is what’s motivating me even more to complete it. Without having had a fully detailed plan for this year, I’ve been able to achieve so much. If I take that little bit of extra time I may be unstoppable.
3) Publish my novel
Okay, I know I said the one before might be difficult but this is going to be just as bad. If you’ve not already read my Writing Journey post (and you should, it’s pretty good), I have just finished my first ever manuscript. An exciting time for anyone who wants to write for a living, but I want to try and get this one published. My main idea is to self-publish but I’m unsure if I should go down the Kindle route, or look at crowd-funding.
4) Run 5 kilometres in less than 39 minutes
This may seem like an easy feat but I’ve been stuck between 40-41 for a while. I really want to get below 40 minutes, but I think 39 will be an even bigger achievement. To make sure that this is something that I am physically capable of doing, I’ll be looking at achieving this more than once. Hopefully, I will be able to do this as it is something that I think I’m capable of. But it may mean running more than once a week. If that’s the case then I am going to have to wait a few months until it is lighter outside when I’ve finished work.
5) Lose 12 kilos (or around 25lbs/2stone)
Oh look, a weight loss goal! I can already hear people clamoring to tell me that I should love the body I’m in and I shouldn’t change. I understand them, I should be able to be happy with myself but if I want to reduce my risk of diabetes, and have a greater chance to fall pregnant it’s something I need to do.
Also, I don’t feel great with the weight I’ve put on. I know it’s from over-indulgence and it’s something that I can change. Part of losing this weight will also be the introduction of healthier eating options. I’ve already cut down on my snacks, and I’ve been trying to have better portion control, but I still have some time to go. So hopefully this time next year, I will see a difference in my lifestyle and habits that I will be happy with
6) Finish my high fantasy novel
This is something that I’m really excited about! The book in question has been in the works for the past decade but on the high of completing my novella I think I’m ready to complete this. I already have half of it written, so I need to double my words and do some re-working until this is done. The best part is that I know this is going to be the start of a series, which means even more things to write in the future!
I have mini goals that I’m going to set myself each month, but I am feeling optimistic that this can be done by the middle of the year. I’m just giving myself the whole year in case of any unforeseen circumstances. I will be giving updates along the way on all my social platforms, so if you’re interested you will have the chance to see how I’m getting along
Last but not least
7) Completely clear my credit card debt
I’m not going to go into the value that I want to clear, but this is something I want to remove before the end of the year. It’s not crazy high but it’s enough to make me think that it needs removing and working on, sooner rather than later. I have planned that I should be able to clear this by the middle of the year, but sometimes life gets a little more complicated.
Some new year resolutions to ponder.
There you have it. My complete list of new year resolutions 2019 edition. I think that this year I have more of a chance of completing these, and I m feeling positive about the year to come. This year is going to bring good things for all of us. I can tell!
If reading my new year resolutions wasn’t enough, then a few of my friends have also decided to put down in writing their plans. Becca has done “My 2019 Goals” which I love! Molly, who did a reflections and 2019 resolutions post. Last, but not least Mollie who has written up her Goals, Hopes and Aspirations for 2019.
Have you set yourself any resolutions for 2019? Do you think this will be the year you’re able to achieve them?
Hasta la fuego
